Hi! I’m a journalist and author currently writing a book about sibling abuse—the most common but least recognized form of family violence. Drawing from survivor stories, original reporting, and my own lived experience, the book aims to break the silence around sibling abuse and offer a path to healing. If you’ve been impacted by this hidden epidemic and would like to share your story—anonymously if you’d prefer—I’d love to hear from you.

My commitment to this work is deeply personal. Like many survivors of sibling abuse, I grew up without the language to describe what I was experiencing, and without the cultural support I needed to name it as abuse. My parents also struggled to see the abuse for what it was and respond to it. Today, I’m passionate about creating the resources and community I once needed—bringing visibility to survivors who have too often been left to navigate their healing alone.

My work focuses on domestic violence, trauma, and healing, and has appeared in the Washington Post, USA Today, Women’s Health, Parents Magazine, Medscape, SELF Magazine, and other outlets.

I’ve written about the future of trauma therapy, the decade-long challenge of accepting a bipolar II diagnosis, the complexities of coming out (and not coming out), and the joy of reclaiming your autonomy after an abusive relationship. I’ve explored how friends and family can support domestic violence survivors, shed light on healthcare workers facing violence at home at work, and profiled advocates advancing transformative legislation to save lives.

As a health journalist, I bring sensitivity, depth, and curiosity to my work. Throughout my career, I’ve covered an array of mental health conditions and chronic health conditions including schizoaffective disorder, male breast cancer, long COVID, mesothelioma, HIV, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, REM sleep behavior disorder, and more. I’ve amplified the voices of far too many women who have experienced medical gaslighting and documented their struggles navigating our broken healthcare system. I’ve also shared my own story of struggling to access healthcare with and without insurance, with support from the Economic Hardship Reporting Project.

Beyond my journalism, I collaborate with nonprofit organizations as a consultant. I’m passionate about building stronger, healthier, and more equitable communities. I dedicate most of my efforts to the causes I’m closest to: promoting racial and social justice, empowering domestic and sexual violence survivors, protecting mental health, preventing suicide, and supporting LGBTQ+ young people facing family rejection.

If you’d like to work together, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
